Network Design

<< Back to Services

Even well-designed and implemented networks can suffer from performance degradation over time. Network traffic has increased dramatically since its inception, the original network's design and its current use are 'out-of-synch', or simply, your business model has changed and your network hasn't.

Rich Finney & Associates can assess your network environment from a fresh and unbiased perspective. By carefully analyzing the details involving available network usage, capacities, and resources, RF&A can report on any current or pending deficiencies in the network, along with pinpointing any performance bottlenecks. Included in the performance reports are recommendations on how to alleviate both known and newly discovered problems along with applicable recommendations on enhancing the environment to better align the network to your business goals.

To some a Network is simply a collection of some or all of the computers in an office connected together to share printers and store files in a common location (the server). At RF&A, we also believe a Network is that and so much more. Whether it's a network of two or two thousand PC's, Workstations, Minicomputers, or corporate host, we view the Network as a key business asset and tool to be leveraged by that business to facilitate the achievement of its goals and objectives.

Our network engineers first review and analyze what work is done (or needs to be) on the network before applying any network design engineering disciplines to any client situation. By knowing what business and technical requirements the network must fulfill, the network design engineer can develop an optimal design for each individual, instead of using a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach. This business-driven design philosophy results in greater levels of satisfaction with the network both now and as it grows.

Implementing a new network or making a major change or addition to an existing one is much like performing a delicate surgical procedure. The surgeon must be skilled and take great care in the execution of the procedure to ensure its success. This is the philosophy our network engineers follow for each client's network implementation.

Great care is taken from the very onset of an implementation project starting in the planning stage. This focus on attention to details (no matter how small they may seem), alternate scenario mapping, and developing failsafe/fallback options continue onward until the project is successfully completed and the client is satisfied.

From selecting the most appropriate transmission elements (e.g. 10/100Mbps 56K, T-1/T-3, Frame Relay, TX/FX, and ATM) to installing the needed hardware (e.g. Hubs, Routers, Switches, Gateways, and Multiplexors), we possess the skills to handle the task.
