Bridging the Digital Divide
A major focus for Rich Finney and Associates is to introduce "Digital Divide" technology to rural America. As small towns continue to diminish in size, we must find ways to help farmers and small communities sustain themselves. One way to accomplish this is goal is, first, to deploy computer technology to these communities, and then to educate members of these communities on how best to employ this technology to their economic advantage.
Small towns are perfect candidates for technology businesses that do not require "storefronts." Help desk centers are a good example of this kind of business. Over the last five years, in the interest of bringing these areas into the 21st century, we have developed telecommunication infrastructures for School Districts, Electric Cooperatives and Rural towns.
Throughout Texas, there are many organizations committed to the goal of preserving the economies of rural America. These organizations include the Association for Community Networks, VP Productions, Texas Telecom, and the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA).
